Auction is for two (matched pair) extremely rare GEC 6080 / ECC230 / 6AS7 / 5998 black plates double power triode. (brown bakelite base, gold grids, true triple mica, dual square getter (double bar square getter!!!))
They are branded Philips and they come in original Philips boxes + wrapped in paper. Boxes are in bad shape, but tubes, as well prints on tubes are in perfect condition.
Made in GEC tube plant in late 50s, no Philips / Mullard codes, 6080 RD Z in rectangular codes are clearly visible on photos.
These tubes are factory pre selected for balanced sections and the best cathodes of complete batch!!!
That's why they have "SQ" Special Quality sign and in 60's this label wasn't just marketing ploy, just 5% of complete production had it. They are real gems indeed and they sound like that.
They are carefully matched by plate current on my calibrated Metrix U61B state of the art tester. Very strong pair, tested with 100V on anodes and -24V on grids: (175 / 172) (174 / 175) mA
